Yoga for Health Education, located at The Village Center in Traverse City, Michigan, offers practical yoga, Ayurveda, meditation, tai chi, Pilates and Feldenkrais in a most unique and tranquil setting – the former State Hospital grounds. At this Center for Conscious Living, we feature three spacious classrooms which overlook a tree-filled park, free of automobile noise & exhaust. Windows are usually open during the warm days of spring, summer and fall to bring in fresh outdoor air, as well as pleasant sounds of song birds.
YHE’s programs are designed to meet the needs of each individual in a non-competitive and safe environment. We feature a wide array of classes for all ages & ability levels, taught by mature, professional instructors who come to Yoga for Health Education with diverse training and fields of expertise, each with a minimum of eight years experience in their program.
Green Canopy retail space accommodates the area’s largest selection of yoga props and a multitude of books on yoga, Ayurveda, nutrition & tai chi and also offers earth-friendly apparel. Gift certificates may be purchased for merchandise as well as for classes. Green Canopy is moving its entire clothing line to a new location and we are having a MOVING SALE on all clothing (40% off). Store hours are 9 am-5:30 pm Monday through Friday.
Our Fall Session began on Thursday, September 4 (see schedule of classes under Fall Session 2014). The Almost Free Classes Fundraiser for SEEDS (held on Wednesday, Sep 3) raised over $350. YHE will make a monetary contribution, as well, to bring the total to $500.
Registrations for the Fall Session may be done in person, by mail or phone and we strongly recommend joining no later than the second meeting of all class sessions. Drop-ins are cordially welcome, especially for visitors to the area as well as persons new to yoga, tai chi and Pilates.
When you check our schedule, you will see that we offer something for every age and body condition. As teachers, we are here to support, encourage and motivate. Above all else, as some of our classes are highly challenging, we will never push you to do more than is safe for your situation. So come join us!
